A Commercial Support Specialist (CSS) is tasked with assisting the Commercial Sales Manager with administrative tasks related to bid submission and job progression, tracking of documents, submitting regulatory documents as needed, and maintaining relationships with past, current and future S&G commercial accounts. A CSS works in tandem with the Commercial Sales Manager and Account Managers, and will need strong organizational, time management, customer service, and communication skills to meet prospect and client needs. A CSS who excels at their position might one day move up into an Account Manager position within S&G. While S&G employees enjoy a team atmosphere, each employee is responsible for their own performance and is expected to be a productive member of the team.

Commercial Support Specialist
$22-$25/hr starting pay
Full-time, M-F, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., in office at Rancho Cordova office

Duties and Responsibilities:

As a nonexempt employee, a CSS will maintain a regular schedule, Monday through Friday.

A CSS’ time is spent as follows:
45% Assisting with Bid Opportunities
50% Administrative Duties
5% Completing Trainings and Improving Product Knowledge
  1. Assisting with Bid Opportunities
  1. Review architectural plans and scope of work for in-progress bids.
  2. Locate product specs and request per-project pricing.
  3. Attending vendor networking events or other events as assigned by supervisor.
  4. Engage in opportunities to be involved with new or existing clients.
  5. Scout for bid opportunities on respective plan room sites.
  1. Administrative Duties
  1. Submit closeout documents.
  2. Create and send out Preliminary Notice per job.
  3. Request and collect Submittal samples.
  4. Track prevailing wage document submission from subcontractors.
  5. Ensure inventory system has material in catalog for quote/job creation.
  6. Keep bid tracker current.
  7. Schedule subcontractor pickups.
  8. Payment collection from clients in contract. 
  1. Completing Trainings and Improving Product Knowledge
  1. Attend meetings or trainings as assigned by supervisor.
  2. Research new products as requested by clients and supervisor.
Skills and Specifications:
 
  • Effective time management, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, both writing and verbally.
  • Must be prompt, dependable, and responsive to customer needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Strong team player and should work well under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to assist customers, installers and co-workers.
  • Detail-oriented.

Education and Qualifications:
 
  • Basic technology skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • High level of organizational skills, time management skills, and ability to work efficiently in both an independent and team setting.
  • Proficient knowledge of commercial flooring products and installation.
  • Positive attitude and self-confidence when working with the public.
